Lenox & TwitterMoms Drinks of the Season
I just made this delicious drink for Halloween, but it would be nice for any fall or winter celebration. I had people ask for the recipe, so here it is:
1 gallon apple cider
6 oz frozen lemonade
6 oz frozen orange juice
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp ground nutmeg
3 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
Ever since the Harry Potter hoopla hit our house, and it’s been going on over five years now, my girls have been obsessed with anything to do with Harry Potter. They’ve had the Bertie Bott’s every flavored beans, for example. So you know that the butter beer experiment is not far behind. Ever since we’ve tried it, this has become a tradition of sorts in our house. They just have to have butter beer the night before Christmas. Here’s the best recipe we’ve found so far. It’s a cholesterol attack waiting to happen, but what the heck, you only have it once a year! That is if they don’t ask for it on New Year’s Eve :)
Irish Coffee
3 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
1 1/2 oz Kahlua
Coffee
Add liquers to your coffee and garnish with whipped cream and cocoa.
Enjoy!
For fun use a stemmed clear coffee mug and wrap the stem with artificial holly or garnish with a mini candycane. You can even drizzle with caramel and top with a sprig of mint. Fun, festive and mmmmmm is it ever good.
“No need to fear raw eggs in eggnog. The eggs are gently cooked to kill any potential bacteria in this non-alcoholic eggnog. Since it contains no alcohol, the kids will enjoy it as much as the adults. You will want to keep this rich and creamy eggnog on hand all through the holidays.
Most of the leaves have turned and fallen, and the cold is settling in - that means time for hot drinks fireside! Twittermoms and Lenox are having a Drinks of the Season contest so I’m jumping in for this one. There could even be a prize in it for you! (One of) My favorite winter drinks… Hot Chocolate & Peppermint Schnapps: My dad makes a mean one of these.
I love Hot Chocolate all winter long. It’s always better when you top it with whipped cream and try adding some mint. (Mint flavored Hershey kisses work well) I like to drink hot chocolate best while eating Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, the combination is so yummy. If I’m in a hurry then I just buy the allready made hot cocoa mixes. This is much easier for the kids.
I make my own by simmering milk add in Chocolate syrup and mint kisses, top with whipped cream.
Wow, as I have said a million times. The holidays are quick approaching and while thinking about the menu, a particular drink recipes really comes to mind. This is perfect for those cool holiday get togethers and can be kept on low in a slow cooker for sometime! Here is the recipe below.
